Methodist Rehabilitation President and CFO of 47 Years Honored with National Leadership Award

Gary Armstrong, President and Chief Financial Officer of Methodist Rehabilitation, has been honored with one of the highest distinctions in the field of rehabilitative medicine – the 2025 National Leadership Excellence Award from the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA).

This national recognition celebrates Armstrong’s nearly five decades of service and his transformative leadership in advancing access to rehabilitation care.

Armstrong began his journey at Methodist Rehabilitation in 1977 as Director of Information Services. Over the years, he has held key leadership roles, guiding the hospital through major growth, technological transformation, and an ever-expanding reach in patient care. In 2022, he was named President and CFO, continuing to strengthen Methodist Rehabilitation’s mission and vision for the future.

“For 47 years, Gary has been the cornerstone of Methodist Rehabilitation – steady, wise, and deeply committed to the people we serve,” said David McMillin, Chief Executive Officer. “His leadership has shaped not just our hospital, but the entire landscape of rehabilitation care in Mississippi. This award is a reflection of his extraordinary impact, and I’m honored to serve alongside him.”

As Methodist Rehabilitation celebrates 50 years, it does so with gratitude for leaders like Gary Armstrong—those who not only helped lay down the foundation but continue to dream beyond it.
