Post-Amputation Rehabilitation

With more than 30 years of experience, Methodist Rehabilitation offers the most comprehensive amputation services in Mississippi. We provide pre-surgical assessments, post-surgical therapy and custom-designed prostheses for patients recovering from amputations as a result of trauma or illness. Methodist Rehabilitation has earned the prestigious Amputation Specialty Program designation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), a recognition held by only a select group of rehabilitation organizations.

Your Care Team

A physical medicine and rehabilitation physician offers comprehensive care for both the new amputee/individual living with limb loss, and the seasoned veteran facing either new issues or wanting to establish with a program with a full spectrum of available rehabilitation services.

The post-amputation team also includes nurse practitioners, certified rehabilitation nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, respiratory therapists, dietitians, pharmacists, case managers, social workers, neuropsychologists, biomedical engineers, orthotists, and assistive technology and robotic equipment specialists. After a patient is discharged from our inpatient facility, our Orthotics & Prosthetics Clinics will continue care and offers a variety of prosthetic products and services with 10 locations across Mississippi and in Louisiana.

We provide treadmill gait training and robot-assisted walking therapy, which can help patients make significant gains in their walking ability.

Clinical Trials

We give patients the opportunity to benefit from clinical trials and other research through our Center for Neuroscience and Neurological Recovery (CNNR). The CNNR is led by a physician-scientist who works with a team of investigators, including fellow physicians and experts in engineering, therapy, neuropsychology, and orthotics and prosthetics.
