Methodist Rehabilitation
Support Groups

Recovering from an illness, injury, or surgery can be challenging, both physically and emotionally.

At Methodist Rehabilitation, we know that healing is easier when you don’t have to face it alone. That’s why we offer a variety of support and discussion groups for patients and their families.

These gatherings are more than just meetings. They are opportunities to connect with others who truly understand what you’re experiencing. Whether you’re navigating a stroke, spinal cord or brain injury, amputation, or other challenges, these groups provide encouragement, guidance, and a sense of community every step of the way.

City-Wide Stroke Support Group

The stroke support group meets monthly at 2 p.m. in Conference Room A, second floor at Methodist Rehabilitation, 1350 East Woodrow Wilson, Jackson. This group is open to all stroke survivors and their families and is a collaborative effort between Methodist Rehabilitation, St. Dominic’s, Baptist Health Systems, and the UMMC Stroke Center.

West Nile Virus (WNV) Support Group

While in-person meetings are paused, patients can find a great resource for information and education here: mosquitoillnessalliance.org. This site features lectures and presentations from Dr. Leis, who specializes in WNV care and often engages with support group participants to answer questions and provide insights.

Amputee Discussion Group

The Amputee Discussion Group meets every other Thursday at the hospital located at 1350 East Woodrow Wilson, Jackson. The primary focus is on education and guidance for patients and caregivers. Topics covered include how to find a prosthetist, understanding patient choice in selecting a service provider even when a surgeon has made a recommendation, what to expect during the first year after an amputation, and more. The group also provides a space to address any questions or concerns patients or their caregivers may have.

Spinal Cord Injury and Brain Injury Support Groups

These groups meet on the first Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Flowood YMCA, providing support and community for patients and families navigating recovery from spinal cord or brain injuries.
