Christopher Williams poses in a church with a microphone

Now I Can... Sing a New Song.

For Christopher Williams, music has always been a part of his life. Raised in a home where the radio played every Saturday morning, he grew up singing in church, never knowing just how much his voice would mean to others.

But in 2017, his life changed forever. A severe infection led to the amputation of his right leg. Then, in 2023, he faced the unthinkable again, losing his left leg to the same infection.

“I was devastated,” he said. “It was hard to wrap my mind around it. Both times, the doctors told me if I hadn’t come in when I did, I wouldn’t be here.” Despite the hardships, including the loss of his father just six months after his second amputation, he found a new perspective.

“I had a conversation with God,” he said. “I told Him, ‘If you let me make it through this, my praise and worship will be different.’”

With the help of inpatient and outpatient therapy from Methodist Rehabilitation and prosthetic care from Methodist Rehabilitation’s Orthotics & Prosthetics division, Williams found his rhythm again, both in life and in song.
