Biography
Matthias J. Krenn, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) and an affiliate scientist at MRC. He earned his master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Vienna and his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from the Medical University of Vienna. Dr. Krenn joined UMMC in 2017 to collaborate with MRC researchers in the field of electrical neuromodulation. He has published close to 30 peer-reviewed articles and has received grant support from private foundations and national funding agencies. In 2023, Dr. Krenn was honored with the Apple award from the American Spinal Injury Association and the Early Career Investigator Discovery Award from UMMC. His current research focuses on noninvasive electrical stimulation techniques aimed at improving function after spinal cord injury.
