John W. Chow, Ph.D., a scientist, is the Gertrude C. Ford Director of Motion Analysis. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Springfield College in Massachusetts and both his M.A. and Ph.D. in exercise science/biomechanics from the University of Iowa. Before joining MRC in 2007, he held faculty positions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Florida. From 2016 to 2022, he served as an affiliate professor in the Department of Neurobiology & Anatomical Sciences at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Chow has authored more than 70 publications in academic journals and he serves as a peer reviewer for several professional publications. His research focuses on muscle functions and the impact of spasticity on gait after neurological disorders.
